Our Take

The Handicare 4000 Curved Stairlift is the newest model in the Handicare range. It fits complex curved staircases and carries users up to 136 kg (21.5 stone). The dimensions above are for the Simplicity seat; the Smart seat adjusts between 410mm and 510mm between the armrests. Moreover, one of the tightest track bends available lets it follow sharp turns.

Benefits

Modular Design

The modular rail is built to match your exact stairs. As a result, it suits many staircase shapes and user needs.

Slim Profile

The rail keeps a slim, low-key profile. Because of that, it saves space and stays unobtrusive.

Smooth and Quiet Operation

Riders often report a smooth, comfortable trip. Therefore, moving up and down the stairs stays pleasant.

Safety Features

A seatbelt, sensors and a swivel seat come as standard. Together, they help you get on and off safely.

Customisation

The Handicare 4000 navigates curves with extensive tailoring. Moreover, it fits complex layouts that simpler lifts cannot.

Considerations

A curved installation is more complex and takes longer than a straight one.

Curved lifts also cost more, because the rail is custom-made for your stairs.

It needs some room at the top and bottom landings, and may not fit extremely narrow or unusual staircases. As a result, a home survey is essential.

Its extra moving parts can also mean more frequent maintenance than a straight model.

Other Models to Consider

Curved lifts are all made to measure, so it’s worth weighing the Handicare 4000 Curved against a few others. The Stannah Sadler Curved is a close match on size and capacity and the Bespoke Infinity Curved is a close match on size and capacity, while the Companion Freecurve Curved is rated to 125kg. A home survey will confirm the best fit.
